I’ll never forget when Sarah came to see me.
She was an ultramarathon runner, sidelined by relentless knee pain that had plagued her for years, robbing her of her favourite long-distance runs. Countless therapists offered fleeting relief, but the pain always returned, yet scans revealed nothing significant.
When patients walk into my clinic with chronic, unresolved pain, I always scrutinise the entire body—starting with the feet.
It was no surprise to discover that this runner had a moderate bunion on her right foot and poor control of her medial arch, causing her foot to overpronate. This improper alignment placed undue stress on her medial knee. Considering the countless steps she ran, her knee was overloaded.
Treating the knee alone would be a short-term fix. Without correcting the foot mechanics—and the hip imbalance that showed significant weakness compared to the left side—lasting recovery was impossible.
By honing in on her foot mechanics, we not only banished her knee pain but also enhanced her overall movement, boosted her running efficiency, and slashed her risk of future injuries.
In the world of fitness, feet are often the unsung heroes (or the unseen culprit).
While we meticulously focus on building strength, enhancing flexibility, and improving endurance, we tend to overlook the foundation – our feet.
This oversight leaves many fitness professionals without the essential tools to address foot-related issues that can cascade into more significant problems throughout the body. When the feet aren't functioning properly, it can alter gait mechanics, leading to strain and pain in the knees, hips, and lower back.
These issues can frustrate both clients and trainers, as the root cause often goes unrecognised and untreated. Many times, trainers and coaches treat the symptoms rather than the source, providing only temporary relief.
But what if you could break this cycle?
By gaining a deeper understanding of foot anatomy and biomechanics, you can unlock the potential to provide lasting solutions for your clients.
Imagine being able to pinpoint and address the underlying causes of pain and dysfunction, rather than just managing symptoms.
This knowledge can set you apart in the fitness industry, enabling you to deliver exceptional results and significantly improve your clients' quality of life.
Introducing "Meet The Feet" – an in-depth course specifically designed for fitness and health professionals who want to excel in their practice by addressing foot-related issues comprehensively. This course consists of 8 meticulously crafted modules and over 40 practical lessons. You'll dive deep into the anatomy of the foot, learning about its intricate structures and functions.
